CBD 101: A First Timer’s Guide to CBD

When you are trying CBD products for the first time, or wanting to learn more about it, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the different options and types of products. If you’re experiencing information overload or feeling unsure of where or how to start, you’re in luck! In this CBD 101, we’re  sharing everything you need to know to get started on your CBD wellness journey.

How does CBD work?

CBD enters the body and interacts with the receptors in the body’s internal systems, called the endocannabinoid system. These receptors can be found in various parts of the body including the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system and connective tissue. Through the endocannabinoid system, the CBD can help support your body’s overall wellness.

Where does CBD come from?

The CBD in our products is hemp-derived CBD, meaning it comes from hemp, rather than marijuana. Both hemp and marijuana are types of cannabis, but while marijuana contains THC, which is the cannabinoid that causes a high, hemp contains a negligible amount of TCH (less than 0.3% THC).

When shopping for CBD, like many other products that you use on your body, it is important to understand the growing practices of the CBD. Look for organic hemp-derived products that are grown without chemicals.

Does CBD have intoxicating effects?

No, hemp-derived CBD is a non-intoxicating essential oil extracted from the hemp plant, and it contains zero THC. This means that it will not have any intoxicating effects when used.

What is broad spectrum CBD? What is full spectrum CBD?

You may see terms such as broad spectrum or full spectrum when shopping for CBD products. Broad spectrum CBD products are created from the entire plant, including leaves, flowers, stem, and seeds, but contain no THC. Energy Muse Wellness products feature broad spectrum CBD.

Comparatively, full spectrum CBD may contain up to 0.3% of THC, which is how full spectrum differs from broad spectrum CBD.

Where should I start my CBD journey?

There is truly no right or wrong way to get started! You can either choose where to start based on the type of product–oils, bath soaks, or balms–or the collection. We have three different collections, each designed to support your wellness in a different way:

You can also mix and match our product types and collections to address different needs and aspects of your well-being!

How much should I use, and how often should I use it?

We suggest starting small and building your way up. That way, you can experiment with what amount feels right for you.

As with many other wellness practices, consistency is key! For the best results, use your CBD wellness tools on a daily basis. You can use them as-needed throughout the day, 1-3 times daily. If you are looking for a guided daily ritual, use our wellness formula to design your own daily CBD practice.
